"Steep, difficult and dangerous" are words often used to describe a Pyramid Peak climb. High exposure, loose rock, and changing conditions challenge even the most experienced climbers. Climbers are well advised to leave the trailhead by dawn or earlier in order to be off the mountain before afternoon thunderstorms begin. Pyramid Peak is named after its roughly square pyramid summit. The first ascent was in 1909 by Percy Hagerman and Harold Clark.
