Cerro (meaning hill) Aconcagua is the highest peak in the Western hemisphere and is sometimes referred to as "The Roof of the Americas". Situated near the Argentinean/Chilean border, in the Andes Mountain Range, it is second only to Mount Everest of the "Seven Summits" and draws mountain climbers from all over the world. It's height was mostly created by shifting of tectonic plates, with only a slim layer made up of volcanoes and glaciers, therefore having a surprisingly small amount of snow and ice for such a high peak.
